Group of Legislators Urges President to Secure Border with Executive Powers

The members of the House express concerns as they face reelection challenges.

Fifteen members of the House minority party sent a letter to President Joe Biden urging him to use executive powers to secure the southern border. A bipartisan bill positioned as border security legislation has not moved forward in the House after it was passed by the Senate.

“All of our constituents, no matter our congressional district, have felt the impacts of the current border situation,” wrote the representatives, all of whom are facing a challenging election cycle.

“It has become clear that the current situation remains untenable… it is time for your administration to act,” the members of Congress wrote. “We urge you to use all tools at your disposal, including executive action, to better address security at the Southern border, interdict illicit fentanyl, and allow for orderly legal immigration.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for members of Congress as they encourage the president and his administration to take a stronger stance on enforcing U.S. border security.
  • For the president and his advisors to recognize and uphold existing immigration and national security laws.
